yeah, i think i've acclimatized. no doubt today was hotter. and it's always humid. when i wrote that up it was cool and overcast. but, even on the coolest days, if i go hiking, i can easily work up a good sweat.

No, I was out and about today in Panama city and it was like a furnace. I had the car AC running at maximum, which of course did not help since traffic was jammed tight, and the AC barely works when you're not moving. Meanwhile, my wife and baby were sweating in the back seat. I tried taking a shortcut to get from Multiplaza to the Tumba Muerto, and got lost somewhere in Vista Hermosa, though I eventually found my way.

And not just today, either. I live in El Valle de Anton, and the day before yesterday I took a few friends (who were visiting from California and don't know any better, though I should) on a hike up La India Dormida, the famous "sleeping Indian woman" of El Valle. The trail was muddy, the humidity was stifling, and when we neared the summit and came out of the undergrowth, we got roasted.

Still, the view from up there is always incredible, and when you're back home, freshly showered, and sipping on a tall glass of ice water with lemon, you feel like you really did something.

Of course the locals who live up there just run up and down the mountain like it's nothing.
