as long as there’s a big market for drugs in the 1st world, the 3rd world will find a way to produce them. supply and demand.

all those billions spent on a drug war? it’s a sick joke. prohibition doesn’t work.

yeah, the “shit can run people.” but all kinds of shit can run people - religious fanaticism for example. but we’re not going to outlaw religion anytime soon.

i don’t blame drugs, or alcohol, any more than i blame the diablo rojo when it runs down another pedestrian.

I don’t know what to say (impossible you say!!)… but in the final analysis, it’s always the drugs at or near the foundation or source of the crime problem. The marching powder, kookie dust, flake, dragon etc.

I am not pointing the finger at the casual encounter types but the shit ruins people and we’ve probably all seen it.

but is there not enough money in that business for the overlords to have no interest in it? look at the latest news out of afganistan, business is real gooooooood again. how could that be?

i thought the bad guys were at bay… no?

i guess it’s a reaction to the increase in crime. i can’t figure out how hassling gringo tourists makes the streets safer.

but i know i don’t want to live in a police state.

check this out! if you want to establish a huge money generating programme, just emulate the one that is already in place and quickly evolving! ..the very one you are describing above! Oh wait, you need automatic weapons and a license to steal before you can do that and all govt hates competition.

as an aside, i too have found that within the last month this place (above conception) has suddenly been crawling with the ‘man’! I swear to you..I am no ‘expert’ on this place and have only been here just less than a year but I’m very sensitive to the ‘presence’ of assholes I’d rather not deal with, and now, they’re out in ‘force’! I could drive around here for a month when I first arrived and rarely ever see the ‘man’ while cruising. now, everytime I leave the domicile, i see the ‘man’ out looking for easy meat. my shitty ass tourist visa expires in 2 days. I’m outta here tomorrow and i’ll watch this burgeoning clusterfuck from the sidelines.
They passed the laws. The way has been paved, i read the legislation. The rebirth of a police state is here for all to enjoy.

Iwas in panama for 3 months on business. was constantly harrassed by police and taxi drivers extorting me for money. i was trying to establish a huge money generating program there which would of provided jobs for hundreds of local panamanians. i will take my business elsewhere. Iwas walking home to my hotell after spending an eveining at the royal casino, when stopped by policia and asked for my papers. my spanish was and is very bad. i showed them my birth certificate which at the time was all that is needed to travel in panama. was harrased and they wanted to take me into custody b/c i didnt haver a passport. fortunatley i had enough cash to pay the policia to allow me to return to my hotel.
