robert - "mistake?" i guess that depends why you bought an apartment in cangrejo. do you plan to live there, or is this an investment? i think as an investment it's risky. the immigration/visa changes are sure to drive thousands of baby boomers to other more tourist-friendly lands.

my flat's not just an investment. i enjoy living in cangrejo. so even if i don't make a killing when i sell later, i can still live there, or rent it out.

on the other hand, 2 years is a long time to wait for a condo to be built. i wouldn't have the patience. as everyone is fond of telling me, panama can be volatile. so who knows?

I just signed a contract to buy an apartment in Cangrejo. It won't be ready for 2 years. Did I make a mistake?

yeah, i don't see any apartments in el cangrejo selling cheap any more. the market's hot, but prices can't go up forever. if demand for a tropical getaway slows, you might find some real bargains.

i bought a fixer-upper cheap, and i hope that'll keep me safe if the bubble bursts.

cojito, i think you bought your apartment at the right time. i've been watching panamá real estate prices via the internet. seems likely that very soon I will be priced out of my favorite neighborhoods in the city.

I agree on El Cangrejo. It's the most comfortable neighborhood in PTY.
