the end of another cool day in [tag]panama city[/tag]. a breeze picks up, and a bruise-like darkness edges closer. crazy rayos of lightning brighten the sky over the distant hills. on the street in front un choque de carros. a rich man’s suv has rammed a poor man’s taxi. the angry drivers have been blocking the intersection for 2 hours; waiting in the rain for the transit police to arrive.
inside, i’m dry, tranquilo. i’m listening to my favorite Panamanian cd “formula cruda” by el roockie. and i’ve just finished installing [tag]shortstat[/tag] , a simple stats program created by shaun inman. finally, i can access [tag]panama after hours[/tag] statistics from my [tag]wordpress[/tag] dashboard.
installation was a snap. just a little ftp action, a quick visit to the plugin directory, and presto, detailed stats. it says i’ve already had 313 hits (132 unique) today. not bad when you consider i’ve just spent the last 5 months in el norte. and when you take into account my hack writing, and brother raul’s impotent management of this zine, it’s a miracle anyone stops in.
truth be told, i’m much too self-absorbed to care about the visitors to panama after hours. i’ve got nothing to sell. i’ll whore myself out later. for now, statistics about my readers have limited value.
still, it’s fun to know what i’m doing right (if anything), and what’s going horribly wrong. with shortstat i can see what keywords are popular. for example, [tag]panama brothels[/tag], whores, girlfriends, massage, prostitutes, and pirates, are the keywords searched the most. it’s also interesting to know how much traffic i have, and from whence it came.
right now google and noriegaville top the list of referrers. it’s mostly all google. noriegaville’s not sending me much traffic. but every bit helps. i want to publicly thank Okke for lowering his standards and putting a link to panama after hours on his home page. i can only assume he was drinking really hard that night. poor guy, he’s under a lot of pressure.
yes, i know this doesn’t insulate me from a [tag]noriegaville[/tag] expose down the road. if i might suggest the future title: “creator of panama after hours a dirty perve.” there’s a story that sells itself. i assure you my girlfriend will be happy to provide the background material.
of course, i’ve had noriegaville linked from day 1. Okke’s someone i respect. but, there’s never been any quid pro quo. i linked noriegaville because i think it’s an important news source in Panama. critics are fond of saying okke’s too hard, too negative on panama. but really, if you spend any time covering panamanian politics, and [tag]gringo con artists[/tag], you can’t help but feel the darkness closing in.
a final note: a couple of people did a whois search on my other domain [tag]panama after dark[/tag] (yes, i own that name). right now it forwards to this page. i had been thinking of using it to create a sex site about panama. but i haven’t had time. (well that, and my girlfriend keeps me on a short leash). it’s for sale if you want to buy it. make me an offer i can’t refuse.

lol yes. what you hear and read are lies – all lies!
for the last month its been cool (in P-city). at night even cooler (70′s). of course, it’s relative. it feels cool to me; white boy from the north, in shorts and a t-shirt.
but it hasn’t been hot and humid this last month. not too much sun. lots of rain and sea breeze. if it was always like this i’d never turn on the air conditioner.
that said, we’re coming up to summer. that’s when it really gets hot.
